Instruments of Empire

JC Penney © Brian Ulrich
"In the eyes of empire builders men are not men but instruments."

– Napoleon Bonaparte

Thursday night is the opening of my two-person show with Brian Ulrich, Instruments of Empire, at Caption Gallery in Brooklyn. The exhibition will feature new work from my Stranded series and Brian’s Dark Stores series, plus work we created specifically for the show where we reference each other’s projects.

On the surface our two series couldn’t be more different; one, portraits of stranded motorists and the other environmental landscapes of abandoned box stores. Look deeper and you’ll see two artists engaged in long-term projects examining the real and metaphorical effects of a country strained by the collapse and corruption of our social institutions. This timely and telling exhibition of photographs debuts as the economic crisis continues and Americans are forced to reexamine their long held assumptions of entitlement, privilege and permanence.

Here are the details:
Instruments of Empire: Photographs by Amy Stein and Brian Ulrich
January 28 – March 25
Caption Gallery
55 Washington Street, No. 802
Brooklyn, NY

Opening Reception: January 28, 6:30pm – 8:00pm
In addition to the photographs, Brian and I are planning some additional programming surprises during the run of this exhibition. Stay tuned and see you at the opening.

Arabic letters and Russia to address Internet

Since opening the opportunity to have domain names with non-Latin letters began years ago, many countries are already enrolled. However, only four states that approved ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers).

Each Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Russia. Three countries use Arabic letters in the form of a word,. EGYPT,. ASSAUDIYAH, and. Emirate. While Russia chose. Cyrrilic RF in the letter which is typical of the country's alphabet. The fourth new domain name will be used that ICANN announced on Thursday (21/1/2010).

These four countries will apply non-Latin letters in full on the system's new internet address. This berb eda with other countries who may only use the domain name as the address itself remains lettered Latin.

"Some countries have also suggested domain names with non-Latin letters other, but only the non-Latin akhirannya," said Tina Dam, ICANN's senior director, such as AP released on Thursday (21/1/2010).

As is known, a sentence in Arabic is written from left to right reverse sentences with Latin letters. While in some Cyrrilic letters resemble Latin alphabet characters, so can one write.

All four countries have received this approval must submit a formal request to ICANN. Next, will be tested to ensure no GGU replacing the Internet addressing system that had prevailed before being implemented.

Nicole has been a consistent box office flop for several years now?

[gallery_main-1216_nicole_kidman_makeup_07.jpg]

Now, is it because of the frozen face, or because Nicole has been a consistent box office flop for several years now? Which came first, the chicken of the egg? Because I think the audience started to leave Nicole around the time she started doing that junk to her beautiful face.

[gallery_main-1216_nicole_kidman_makeup_00.jpg]
[gallery_main-1216_nicole_kidman_makeup_00.jpg]
I also did a little research to see if Nicole was actually attached to these projects at some point. At one point, this past fall, she was attached to Bel Ami (with Robert Pattinson), but ended up pulling out/being fired last November. Monte Carlo is a project Nicole was not only supposed to star in, but produce. And it’s still listed on Nicole’s IMDB page, so who knows? And as for the How To Marry a Millionaire remake, Nicole is still tentatively attached to that too, according to IMDB. But I hope that one doesn’t even get made. I love the original. How the f-ck could you do better than Marilyn, Lauren Bacall, and Betty Grable? Seriously?

[gallery_main-1216_nicole_kidman_makeup_06.jpg]

Blame it on the Botox? After bad reviews for her stiff performance in the flop musical Nine, Nicole Kidman has been dropped from three films: Bel Mai, Monte Carlo, and a remake of the Marilyn Monroe classic How to Marry a Millionaire.

“Nicole’s not aging gracefully, and it’s hurting her chances in Hollywood,” says Michael Levine of LCO, a public relations firm.

But it’s not all bad - Nicole is set to star in The Danish Girl, playing the first man to get a sex change operation.

Sexy Model - maxim Girl

A string bikini refers to a bikini swimsuit that is scantier and more revealing than the traditional bikinis. It gets its name from the string characteristics of its design. Rather than featuring a full single piece bottom, the string bikini consists of two triangular shaped pieces connected at the groin but not at the sides, where a thin "string" wraps around the waist connecting the two parts. String bikini tops are similar and are tied in place by the attached "string" pieces. String pieces can either be continuous or tied.

It is claimed that Brazilian fashion model Rose de Primo created the first string bikini when she had to sew one with insufficient fabric available to her for a photoshoot. The first formal presentation of string bikini was done by Glen Tororich, a public relation agent, and his wife Brandi Perret-DuJon, a fashion model, for the opening of Le Petite Centre, a shopping area in the French Quarter of the New Orleans, Louisiana in 1974. Inspired by a picture of a Rio De Janeiro fashion model in an issue of Women's Wear Daily, they had local fashion designer Lapin to create it for the event. Models recruited by talent agent Peter Dasigner presented it by removing fur coats by Alberto Lemon on stage. The presentation was covered by local television stations and the New Orleans Times-Picayune newspaper, and was sent out via the wire news services of the Associated Press and United Press International.

String bikinis are popular in beaches and many women use them.[citation needed] Also male bodybuilders use string bikinis to better show their muscles in competitions. A string bikini is also a type of undergarment worn by both men and women. It is similar to but more revealing than a bikini. Women's string bikini underwear normally resembles the bottom of the string bikini bathing suit. Men's string bikini underwear consists of a front and rear section joined at the crotch but not at the sides. The tops of each piece join with either an elastic waistband similar to that found on briefs or to a thin piece of material or "string," leaving the sides exposed except for the string or waistband.

Change your life – forget about ED

Also known as "impotence", ED is a man's inability to achieve an erection in order to perform sexual intercourse.
The term "erectile dysfunction" refers specifically to the erection whereas "impotence" is also used quite often to refer to other problems associated with sexual intercourse and reproduction such as a lack of sexual desire or problems with ejaculation.

The Penis and Erections
An erection is achieved when muscles, blood vessels, nerves and hormones all work together. When the brain senses sexual stimulation or arousal, it sends nerve signals to the penis. Arousal can be caused in various ways such as through touching, visual or auditory stimulation, or a fantasy or dream. These nerve signals cause muscle relaxation in the penis and as a result, blood is allowed to flow and collect in the spongy tissue. This causes the penis to inflate as it grows larger and firmer. Blood is prevented from flowing out by veins which close themselves off.

Causes of Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction has various causes most commonly physical causes in older men such as disease, injury or a side-effect of drugs. Any injury to the nerves or blood flow in the penis could potentially cause ED.
Most men will never experience erectile dysfunction. It is not inevitable as a man grows older. However, 5% of 40 year-old men do suffer with ED, as do between 15% and 25% of 65 year-olds.

Treatment
Nowadays there are many ways to treat erectile dysfunction. More sufferers seek treatment as awareness grows that the condition is treatable at any age. Successful, improved treatment of ED allows many men to return to normal sexual activity.
Examples of how to treat erectile dysfunction include counseling (the cause can be psychological), medications, devices such as a vacuum or implanted device and where the condition is caused by damage to veins or arteries, surgery is another option. Research into treating erectile dysfunction is extensive and ever-increasing. As always, patients should consult their clinician about the latest and most suitable treatments.

Statistics
The term "erectile dysfunction" is used to covers a range of severity from a complete inability to achieve an erection, to an inconsistent ability, or the inability to sustain an erection for a long enough period to perform sexually. Due to this broad range, it is difficult to measure and estimate the level and severity of incidence.
Between 15 and 30 million American men are estimated to suffer from erectile dysfunction. This figure varies according to how the condition is defined. The National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS) claims that in 1985, for every 1000 men in the US, 7.7 visits to physicians were due to erectile dysfunction. In 1999, this rate had tripled to 22.3 visits.

This increase is more likely due to more men being comfortable discussing their problem. As more treatments have become available, the subject of erectile dysfunction is no longer as taboo as it once was.
The biggest recent advance in treatment for erectile dysfunction was the highly-publicized March 1998 introduction to the market of the oral drug popularly known as Viagra (Sildenafil citrate). NAMCS estimate that Viagra was mentioned in 2.6 million visits to physicians in the United States in 1999, one third of which occurred when conditions other than ED were diagnosed. Nowadays, Sildenafil citrate is readily available. Online Viagra is particularly popular as it can avoid embarrassment purchasing the drug this way. Millions of email inboxes worldwide are filled with advertisements for online Viagra every day.

Features "Retweet" on Facebook Launched

Perhaps many people are wondering: when Facebook launched a feature version of retweet? Well, now the answer to these questions already exist. Recently, Facebook launched a "via" is similar to features on other social networking site, Twitter. This feature allows you to communicate later returned with another user, with a "via" link attached to attribution.

To try it, you first go to a friend post in the news feeds you, then click "share," and you will see "via [your friend's name]". After clicking "share," items will appear in your profile, with the link pointing to your friends profile. Your friends will also see the items in the News Feeds, as well as in Twitter Retweet.

For a while, the feature works only for posting the link. You can not "via" status updates or photos of others, as reported by Mashable.com.

Spam Wins

I started this blog four years ago this June. In that time I've chronicled my life fresh from grad school to something close to an "emerged" artist. Lately, I have been contemplating whether or not to continue publishing as my day is pretty much filled with my job as a full time artist and teacher. I've decided to keep it going, but I've been looking for ways to trim blog time and make my life a little easier. First thing to go, sadly, is the ability to comment on this site. There is just too much comment spam and not enough real dialogue to warrant keeping the feature active. Please see my Facebook page for some more of my thinking on this.

Jennifer Aniston does a bang-up job of diffusing those Gerard Butler rumors

[gallery_main-0118_gg2_01.jpg]
What’s the verdict on her dress, by the way? I didn’t hate it! It’s an interesting design, with the one-shoulder and slit. The fit was great, but Jennifer usually gets a good fit on her dresses. She never makes that mistake that so many actresses make of pouring themselves into something too tight. I really liked Jennifer’s strappy shoes. Monolos? Or Choos?

[gallery_main-0118_gg2_00.jpg]

Okay, here we go - I don’t know how many times Gerard Butler has denied this rumor in the past, but it seems we’re in for another round of “Are they dating already?” As I mentioned in previous posts, Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston both seemed to arrive solo for the Golden Globes, and yet they sat together, presented together, and posed for these photos together in the press room.

[gallery_main-0118_gg2_03.jpg]http://hotcelebrityhollywood.blogspot.com/
It could totally be the case that they’re friends and colleagues and they don’t really give a crap and they’re promoting their film, Bounty Hunter, and whatever buzz is good buzz.

MLK

Today is Martin Luther King Day. Few have contributed more to the American experience than MLK and while his legacy is often defined by his tireless fight for civil rights, it should not be forgotten that he was a pacifist to the core and an outspoken opponent of the Vietnam War.

Lindsay Lohan wants to make a difference.

[gallery_main-0114_lindsay_vida_06.jpg]

Lindsay Lohan wants to make a difference.

The actress, 23, opens up to UsMagazine.com about filming a BBC documentary on child trafficking in India.

“Making this documentary for BBC3 has allowed me to lend my voice to the real hardship faced by children who are trafficked,” she says.

“The strength of the young boys and girls I met has been truly humbling, and I hope my presence in India will bring awareness to the really important issues raised in making this film,” she adds.

[gallery_main-0114_lindsay_vida_00.jpg]

In a new clip released online, Lohan — who dons oversized sunglasses while being chauffeur-driven through slums — says, “The whole situation is heartbreaking because the parents aren’t necessarily in the wrong, the children obviously aren’t in the wrong. The traffickers are in the wrong because they know what they’re doing.”

Last month, Lohan Twittered about her experience.

“Over 40 children saved so far… Within one day’s work… This is what life is about… Doing THIS is a life worth living!!!” she wrote. “Oh, and I’m talking about being in India.”

[gallery_main-0114_lindsay_vida_05.jpg]

[From Us Weekly]

Do you think she was really humbled? I don’t. First of all, she was barely there. I think the whole trip was something like two days, in-country. That’s not long enough for Lindsay to sober up. She probably thought the Indians were part of her normal delusions. And beyond that, since her trip, Lindsay has been creating “Lohan Mayhem” since Christmas, taking her little sister down to St. Barth, dressing up like a harem girl, smacking guys in bars, putting on weepy performances for the paparazzi. How has Lindsay “changed” from this experience. Oh, my bad. She never claimed that the experience “changed” her, just that she was “truly humbled”. Maybe she was only humbled for a minute or so.

By the way, Lindsay’s crack-tweets have been all over the Haiti situation. A couple of them even sound lucid! Well, sort-of. She’s trying to get information out about donations and stuff, so bless her heart.

Google Denies Protecting Islam

Google Denies Protecting IslamService providers of the world's largest search engine, Google, has denied in the interest of Islam above other religions. The statement said accusations that Google has been censoring the key words of the anti-Islamic in its search results.

Try Google if the user typed the word "Christianity is" (Christian is) then in the search box will automatically appear a list of recommendations that negative phrases. Similarly, if a user typed in "Buddhism is" (Buddha is), only a few appropriate and positive.

However, when typed "Islam is" the same trend does not occur in fact does not appear any recommendations. It is reaping the suspicion that Google may provide protection against adherents of the Islamic faith but did not apply to the adherents of other beliefs.

Recommendations made Google Suggest feature is basically made as a helper to speed up the search results as you wish. The results shown is the analysis of the phrases most often used by all users of Google.

It also aims to refine the term pornography, dirty words, and terms that contain hate and violence. Google has the power to censor certain words if there are suggestions or specific complaints.

However, Google denies to say so far to censor the words that attack Islam. Instead, Google estimates that the search results on Islam that does not appear any recommendations for software errors. "This is a bug and we are working to fix it as soon as possible," said a Google spokesperson as reported by the Telegraph.

The proof, if you type the keyword "Islam must", it also came out negative phrases. Also for "Christianity must" and so on "Buddhism must". Well, if "Jewish is", "Jewish must", "Jewish is", and "Jews must" necessarily different results again.

The Third & The Seventh

This short film by Alex Roman is done entirely with CGI animation. From Alex:
A FULL-CG animated piece that tries to illustrate architecture art across a photographic point of view where main subjects are already-built spaces. Sometimes in an abstract way. Sometimes surreal.

Three Shows and a Trip to Woodstock

Still Life with Banana, Purse and Change © Justine Reyes
The holiday season is behind us and I'm very much looking forward to the first openings of the new year. Good friends Tim Briner, Ruben Natal-San Miguel, and Justine Reyes all have what promise to be stellar shows opening this week.

I met Tim Briner in 2007 days before he was about to set off on his year long trip exploring small town America. During his trip he sent me many postcards from the road written on the side of Boont Amber Ale beer cases. He's back from the boonies and set to debut his impressive new work from the Boonville series.
Boonville | Tim Briner
Jan 7- Feb 27
Daniel Cooney Gallery
511 West 25th Street, Suite 506

Opening Reception: Thursday, Jan 7, 6-8pm

Ruben Natal-San Miguel is one of the most genuine, big-hearted people you could meet. He loves photography and photographers, and I bet if you come to his show opening and say hello he'll love you too. He's curating the group show Versus which opens at Hous Project, also on Thursday. Many of my favorite contemporary photographers will be represented including Hank Willis Thomas, Matthew Pillsbury, Phillip Toledano, and fellow POCers Cara Phillips and Brian Ulrich.
Versus | Curated by Ruben Natal-San Miguel
Jan 7 - Mar 8
Hous Projects
21 Howard Street, 2nd floor

Opening Reception: Thursday, Jan 7, 6-10pm

The weekend promises even more great photography. Justine Reyes' gorgeous (trust me, I've seen them, these prints are gorgeous) work from her Vanitas series will be on view at the Center for Photography at Woodstock beginning Saturday. I'm planning on gassing up my car and getting my ass up there for the opening. And, you should too!
Vanitas | Justine Reyes
Jan 9 - Feb 28
Center for Photography at Woodstock
59 Tinker Street
Woodstock, NY

Opening Reception: Saturday, January 9, 5-8pm
All of this great work should give pause to the Chicken Little's navel-gazing of late about the death of photography.

Jennifer Lopez Exclusive

[gallery_main-0106_jlo_catsuit_01.jpg]

"I feel like I had that [Oscar worthy role] in El Cantante, but I don't even think the academy members saw it. I feel like it's their responsibility to do that, to see everything that's out there, everything that could be great." "Well, it is a little bit frustrating. It was funny; when the Oscars were on, I had just given birth on the 22nd, and the Oscars, I think, were a day or two later. I was sitting there with my twins--I couldn't have been happier--but I was like, 'How dope would it have been if I would've won the Oscar and been here in my hospital bed accepting the award?' 'Thank you so much! I just want to thank the academy!' But we joked about it. It's all good. Things will happen when they're supposed to happen. I have the utmost faith and no doubt that it will one day, when and if it's supposed to. You can't get all crazy twisted over it."
[gallery_main-0106_jlo_catsuit_05.jpg]

As Jennifer Lopez gears up for the next phase of her career, Latina Editor-in-Chief, Mimi Valdés, sat down with the icon in the spacious guest house of her and husband Marc Anthony’s French chateau–style home in Bel-Air, Calif. Lopez didn't hold back when discussing the realities of marriage, why she doesn't live with regrets, and which acting role should have earned her an Oscar. Read on for some of the juicy quotes:

On Her Feelings While Seeing Former Romantic Interests Featured in Her Work:

“Exposed? Vulnerable? Do I cringe? [Laughs] No, no, it’s a literal snapshot. Every one of my albums is very spot-on with who I was at the time. I’ve always been a person who is guided by my gut, my heart, and I love that about myself. I think the day I don’t do that is when I lose my way. I can’t regret the things I did in the past, like putting somebody in a video that I was with. Who cares? I think people relate to me because they know that I’m not being phony.”

Her Greatest Love Lesson:

“What people don’t talk about, which is interesting to me, is how you have to put as much work into your relationships as you do into anything else. We put so much into our careers, and I’m all for that, but there’s also a lot of work that goes into making a successful partnership and marriage. It’s not easy, and anybody who’s successful at it deserves a pat on the back. You’ve got to grow with each other; you’ve gotta bend over backwards for each other. It’s a lot of stuff. Women have to find a balance where you can stand on your own so you don’t lose your individual power. I can’t just become “us,” and I think women do that a lot—become his wife, his girlfriend.”

[gallery_main-0106_jlo_catsuit_04.jpg]

On Past Relationships:

I think I was very focused on what I was doing in my life at the time. No one tells you that you have to work so hard at it. There’s a certain notion of the fairy tale that you talk about in your head, like, “If this is not working, then it’s not working, we’re not meant to be together.” But you don’t find Prince Charming where everything is perfect—like you’re never gonna fight, you’re never gonna disagree, you’re never gonna have opposing points of view. That’s ridiculous, and it doesn’t exist. You get to a point where you say, “I need to work on myself—and if I love this person, I’m gonna work on myself, and if he loves me, he’s gonna work on himself.”

[gallery_main-0106_jlo_catsuit_06.jpg]

Marriage to Marc Anthony:

“That’s how I know that this relationship is worth it, because a lot of people walk away too easily. But to take that step and actually get married—and I’ve done it three times, and two times were, you know, not good for me or for them—I’m gonna take it seriously. We’re gonna go through hard times, but we’re gonna work through them, and that’s what we try to do. It’s easy to throw your hands up, but those things leave scars.” “Everything is great about my marriage. First and foremost, we love each other, truly love each other in a way that’s very deep and meaningful, not in a superficial sort of way. There’s a deep respect, admiration and love for each other. We honestly believe that we make each other better people…We force each other to be better, and I think in a relationship, that’s how it should be. You shouldn’t be with somebody if he makes you feel less than who you are.”

[gallery_main-0106_jlo_catsuit_02.jpg]

Why El Cantante was Oscar Worthy:

“I feel like I had that [Oscar worthy role] in El Cantante, but I don’t even think the academy members saw it. I feel like it’s their responsibility to do that, to see everything that’s out there, everything that could be great.” “Well, it is a little bit frustrating. It was funny; when the Oscars were on, I had just given birth on the 22nd, and the Oscars, I think, were a day or two later. I was sitting there with my twins—I couldn’t have been happier—but I was like, ‘How dope would it have been if I would’ve won the Oscar and been here in my hospital bed accepting the award?’ ‘Thank you so much! I just want to thank the academy!’ But we joked about it. It’s all good. Things will happen when they’re supposed to happen. I have the utmost faith and no doubt that it will one day, when and if it’s supposed to. You can’t get all crazy twisted over it.”

On Fame:

“Your world becomes smaller, so yeah, it is a weird reality. You stop doing things like having a key in your pocket, opening the door for yourself because you become so busy. All of a sudden, somebody takes that over for you. You do lose touch a little bit; anybody who says they don’t is a liar. Your life is not like a person who goes to work, opens their door, goes to the grocery store. I lived that life for 20-something years, and now my life is different, but I have my foot in both worlds. I have found myself lately saying it needs to be more simple. I can’t have all these people around, especially once you have children. I’ve been able to always keep a good perspective. I’ve never, thank God, gone completely off into the stratosphere. I’m not saying I haven’t had my moments [laughs], but I’m always able to come back.”

On the Future:

“The experience of living is very important for an artist, for somebody who has to express those emotions. I feel I’m about to leave my whole life behind and go to the next thing. I really mean that: Bye-bye, house; bye-bye, everything. Next thing, here I come. Let’s go. Maybe a year and a half ago, I wasn’t ready, but now I am. There’s no tentativeness, no doubt, no fear."

Thoughtography

Nikola Tesla's 'thought projector'
Mind Hacks points to an article in Fortean Times that details efforts in the early history of photography to capture the "psychic projection of images directly onto film." Before you laugh and think thoughtography in the same quackish vein as spirit photography do note that one of humanity's greatest minds, Nikola Tesla, was convinced he could devise a means to capture cerebrated impulses like light on a sensitive medium.

The Fortean story references many 'thoughtoraphic' efforts, but I found the story of the Astral Cat most compelling.

"Astral Cat"
“From the members of the Camera Club, seven of those having greatest animal magnetism and greatest power of mental concentration were chosen for the experiment. Connection was made from the eye of these observers to the corresponding parts of the lens; then all were to remain in utter darkness and perfect silence, each person fixing his mind on a cat. They were not to think of any particular cat, but of a cat as represented by the innate idea of the mind or ego itself. This was highly important, for the purpose of Mr. Marvin was not simply to fix by photography an ephemeral recollection [..] it was to bring out the impression of ultimate feline reality. The innate image in the mind was the object desired. One man’s thought of a cat would be individual, ephemeral, a recollection of some cat which he had some time seen, and which by the mind’s eye would be seen again. From seven ideals, sympathetically combined, the true cat would be developed. This combination is the essence of sympsychography , a term suggested by Prof. Amos Gridley, of Alcalde… The personal equation would be measurably eliminated in sympsychography, while the cat of the human innate idea, the astral cat, the cat which ‘never was on sea or land’, but in accordance with which all cats have been brought into incarnation, would be more or less perfectly disclosed.”

IPV6 and Virtualization at 2010 Warm more

http://techno.okezone.com/images-data/content/2010/01/05/327/291240/10FSKlvdDN.jpgAs at present, cloud computing technology has focused on applications and platforms, the year 2010 will focus on infrastructure technologies. We have seen together, HP announced their move to buy 3Com and Cisco trend, IBM, and Juniper Networks to improve the quality of their networks. This gives the best indication that cloud computing has become essential for intelligent networks.

In particular, the network applications is an area which we expect to receive attention. In the world of cloud, as it focused on operations and data center applications and data remotely accessible, the network assumes a critical importance. The application allows network flexibility, scale, security, QoS and capacity,
key factors for the growth of cloud computing.

For the enterprise, the global financial crisis has made everyone focus on productivity and cost control, do something more with efficiency measures. Accountants have been doing business and their main focus is the TCO, ROI and how value is delivered. While developing the economy seems, focus on value-oriented metrics will certainly continue and will become something great diindustri. This means that vendors challenger, the story proved to reduce operational costs and deliver greater value, will continue to menbawa business to competition that relies on relationships rather than business success.

Consumption data have been rapidly in recent years, but we started to see consumers and businesses not only want to connect more devices, but do so with high expectations from existing experience. Connecting the iPhone to the Wi-Fi or 3G network and download emails or application is not a wonderful thing again. Users become frustrated with slow connectivity, or what they can not do with mobile devices. This will only increase the demand for bandwidth in 2010 and later, and once again this is influenced by the network.

Juniper Networks is actively working with telecommunications operators with operators and broadband providers to guide them to use the network effectively and to answer increasing demand for internet connection.

Here are some topics that are predicted to warm in the industry and the telecommunications network in 2009.

1. IPV6
Predicted that IPV6 will be the trend in 2009, but this does not become reality. Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICAAN) predicts that 2010 is the year in which the domain IPv4 addresses will run out, so focus on the more serious IPV6 in the media, and has many users who ask about planning Juniper IPV6, and requires the ability and features of IPV6 on our platform. While at the same time we continue to create a NAT-capable boxes are greatest in the world and our strategy will continue. We had predicted that the world will run out of IPv4 addresses for 10 years, and this will not happen suddenly.

IPV6 in Indonesia should be encouraged by three factors; government regulations, encouragement of operators and major service providers, and demands from users. It is important for every part of interested to see IPV6 more seriously in 2010.

2. Cloud Computing
Cloud computing has become an interesting topic in 2009. Cloud computing and cloud networking is an option for enterprise data-intensive use, so we can see this topic continues in line with the increasingly obvious strategy. Each vendor has a strategy and cloud computing model, predicted this topic will dominate in 2010.

Important and should be remembered that the data center and network is the core of cloud computing. Operators and service providers must begin to strengthen these two factors allow the company to Indonesia began adapting cloud computing. The company needs to realize that the cost of technology ownership and ROI can be suppressed can be improved through the implementation of cloud computing.

3. Virtualization
One area that is driven by the development of data centers and cloud computing is the virtualization of resources in the data center, including servers, network elements, as well as management platform. It has become the main focus and we see it will continue to grow with more focused on network virtualization.

Many Indonesian companies have realized that the core network, regulation, operations, organization, and security issues have created a network virtualization and the different services to be more challenging. Juniper with a comprehensive product portfolio brings unique capabilities to ensure that service providers can maintain the level of administration and the separation of specific services worth, security and management and at the same time recognizes the efficiency and significant savings due to virtualization

4. Data Center
At the time of virtualization in data centers become the focus in 2009, space, connectivity, and data center operations will continue to be discussed this in 2010. With the government and the enterprise was planning plan specific data center, it will be important for the media agenda.

5. Broadband Network
In 2010, the focus will continue on how the government and the private sector to realize its promise in building a high-speed broadband network for all people. This topic will dominate the media agenda again in 2010 with the launch of WiMAX planning and development of the Palapa Ring. Operators and broadband providers will also continue to find how to set up broadband connections that already exist and respond effectively increased the need for customer data connection.

6. Security
Security is the backbone of all organizations and how the importance of looking at the media focus on this. Security will become a frequently discussed topic in the year 2010, with more focus on cloud computing, social networking, and mobile devices. With the increasing use of mobile meningkatanya dramatically, the network will be required to handle applications and mobile services are complex and at the same time maintain security. Companies in Indonesia will be more concentrated how to strengthen the security of network infrastructure with intrusion prevention through viruses and worms.

Colonialism Through the Lens of a Camera

Agnes Mary Hutchins, born in Zanzibar, 16 May/09
Northwestern University Library has made available The Humphrey Winterton Collection of East African Photographs: 1860-1960, an online database of over 7,000 photographs documenting the European colonization of East Africa. Be warned, the collection is rife with uncomfortable photos in the tradition of The People of India and the library spends a great many words attempting to establish a historical context for the images.

Beyond the typical visual documents you'd expect to find in a collection of colonial-era photographs are some truly amazing landscape and environmental images of East Africa.

Rihanna performing in Abu Dhabi on New Year’s Eve

[gallery_main-1228_rihanna_bikini_10.jpg]

It’s more than possible that the whole “Rihanna must dress conservatively” angle was played up in the media for some added hype. It worked too - Rihanna’s performance probably won her legions of new fans in the Middle East. In any case, I think she came out a winner - and she also came out $500,000 richer for her two-hour performance.

In one last piece of Rihanna news, there are new rumors about Rihanna partying too hard and trying to “drive herself into the ground.” At least, according to Britain’s Now Magazine, where this story seems to have originated. A source who seems to think getting a tattoo is the sign of the apocalypse claims: “She’s going too far with it. She’s impulsive: she goes all out for something, but when it’s a tattoo, you can’t take it back. Every night’s the same. She goes clubbing, downs shots and manages to stay up until the early hours. It’s playing havoc with her sleep pattern, but she doesn’t seem to care. She seems to be on a mission to drive herself into the ground.” Rihanna recently got a backwards-cursive “Never a failure, always a lesson” tattoo, which seems like the least offensive thing she’s done, honestly. I mean, sure, she does out partying a lot. But I also think she works hard and she’s 21 years old. Meh. Maybe she is on the cusp of a breakdown. Or maybe she’s just figuring some sh-t out.

Google Feeling Unrivaled Groovle

Company search engine giant, Google, objecting to the emergence of Groovle.com. Free information search engine that Google has deliberately resemble in terms of look and layout of a page.

Google says as many as 207 Canadian companies have joined Groovle clearly chose the name to create a confusing similarity. Google agreed, taking the domain name must first transfer the data to Google.

Responding to this dispute, mediators from the National Arbitration Forum (NAF) said that Google does not need to provide any evidence of confusion that is happening. Mediation team agreed with the arguments given by the Canadian-based company, which argued that the name is more similar to Groovle or groovy groove than Google's behalf. Such information is quoted from the Telegraph, Friday (1/1/2010).

Providing domain name may be canceled or moved to another company if they do not consider the three elements are forbidden to be broken. First, the provision of similar domain names are identical and create confusion. Second, the owner of domain names do not have the right to own patents. Third, those who feel harmed must demonstrate that the purpose of domain appearance was Uncategorized dropped with intent.

NAF mediator decides that Google submitted objections considered failed to establish the three elements. In other words, presence is not heavy Groovle.com domain expressed by other companies.

There is a message at the bottom of the page Groovle who said "Groovle.com not owned, sponsored or supported by Google". But it is unknown whether this information has been added since NAF decisions issued or not.
